Xeriscape
This home does not exist, but it looks like it does.
Intended to test AI models with built space rather than my prior explorations with tabletop objects. Aiming to replicate photorealistic archviz-style imagery, I started with a reference input image of a bed in a simple, clean set from a shoot. The image was then outpainted across dozens of attempts. Once the final image was attained, I went on a very long project involving many hundreds of generations to learn, test and apply new knowledge to generate the entire home.

The home
Located in a Palm Springs-inspired location. The home is backed by a hiking path that falls off into an elevation change. The monochromatic deep rust colour theme, bronze and copper fixtures were elevated extensions of what I think of as desert minimalism.
The home’s compact size is designed with functionality and well-made, long-lasting finishes. Additions like the dividing central wall that separates the bed/bathroom and living room act as both feature and storage, with vertical wooden battens and seamless storage, reducing the need for external consoles or sideboards.
The kitchen’s cupboards and fridge were built to play structural roles, while being surrounded by the courtyard and garden beds, connecting the space at all times.
Furniture and decor are typical of someone with a West Coast upbringing and a keen interest in European design.
The bathroom’s finishes and lighting direction for the AI model were modelled within the existing low-light section of the home. The skylight created a sunken, deep, cave-like feeling, which I designed into rather than around. I created deliberate, heavy contrast and bounced the directional light with wall-to-wall tiles.
The outdoor area was white minimalism, with rounded garden beds that invoke sand dunes and the natural layered forms of deserts. The centrepiece is the Sinewave sculpture, an important storytelling piece of this home.
One room of this home isn’t shown here. You’ll find it in my AI short film, Mirage.

Notes
Although not active thrghoout the entire date range. This project had the longest period of development, running from November - 2025 to September - 2026 with the final film. You can read about the core work in my blog post - Unlocking the AI magic box with 3D blockouts.
